The Gentle Rain provides a wide and ever growing selection of healthy foods, supplements, body and baby care and all your house hold needs. Our grocery department includes organic dairy (cow, goat, sheep, and soy/rice alternatives), produce, meat, bulk, dry goods, and weekly deliveries of fresh baked bread including wheat and gluten free options. There is a wide selection of organic and conventional dried herbs and spices, fair trade coffee and tea.

Each and every Thursday we offer a 10% seniors discount off regular priced supplements.

We are proud members of the Health First Network. This organization began 10 years ago amongst a small group of health food retailers determined not to let the big stores put us out of business. Today there are more than 115 stores across Canada and together we have more buying power and a stronger collective wisdom. Look for our own exclusive brand of premium supplements named Health First. We also have wonderful flyers put out every other month, with super savings and deals in all departments.

Eric and Marsha bought The Gentle Rain in 1979 from another couple when it was located on Brunswick St. As business grew they quickly ran out of space and changed location in 1989 to our present location on Rebecca Street. In the previous 21 years there have been 4 more renovations/expansions and in 2008 we installed a 10kw system of solar panels.

Our store is run by our manager Michelle, who has been at the G.R.(as we fondly call ourselves) for nearly 14 years. She has the task of overseeing the staff, coordinating all orders and deliveries as well as being the accounts payable department. Sara is our Supplement room manager with extensive knowledge of our health and beauty section and our suppliers, she has been on board for 13 years.

	Anita has been passionate about Health & Nutrition for over 35 years. Around here, she is known as the 'Bread Lady', ordering our bread as well as books (and a few other bits)		Anna is seasonal at the Gentle Rain, spending her winters in Bequia, West Indies. Some of the beautiful signs throughout the store are designed by Anna.
	Liz takes care of our organic dairy, meat, and some the groceries.		Laila takes care of our bulk section and some of the groceries.
	Amber takes care of some of the ordering in the supplement area. She has been passionate about Nutrition.		Jim is our 'handyman' around here - if we need something done, he is our man.
	Vanessa is in the produce and helps out in the bulk area. She is passionate about Nutrition and will continue to take a number of courses.		Noel is the purchaser of our produce area.
	Heather helps with stocking grocery, and produce. She is the artist we go to for special signs we need.		Sara has been at the Gentle Rain for over 14 years and is the Manager of the supplement area.
	Jess works in the supplement area and takes care of ordering our herbs and spices. She is a Wildlife Biologist.		Nancy takes care of advertising/newsletters for the store. She purchases from a number of companies, mostly raw.
	Brooke is our part-time cashier. She also helps out in all areas of our store.		Meaghan is in the supplement department. She is passionate about Nutrition and will continue to take a number courses.
